Hi Sahana,

Which version of OpenPegasus supports this API? Following were the only variants of connect that I saw in OpenPegasus API documentation:

[cid:[email protected]]<http://cvs.opengroup.org/pegasus-doc/CIMClient.html#DOC.1.3.1.1.5>void

connect ( const String<http://cvs.opengroup.org/pegasus-doc/String.html>& host, const Uint32 portNumber, const String<http://cvs.opengroup.org/pegasus-doc/String.html>& userName, const String<http://cvs.opengroup.org/pegasus-doc/String.html>& password )
Creates an HTTP connection with the CIM server defined by the host and portNumber.

[cid:[email protected]]<http://cvs.opengroup.org/pegasus-doc/CIMClient.html#DOC.1.3.1.1.6>void

connect ( const String<http://cvs.opengroup.org/pegasus-doc/String.html>& host, const Uint32 portNumber, const SSLContext<http://cvs.opengroup.org/pegasus-doc/SSLContext.html>& sslContext, const String<http://cvs.opengroup.org/pegasus-doc/String.html>& userName, const String<http://cvs.opengroup.org/pegasus-doc/String.html>& password )
Creates an HTTP connection with the server defined by the URL address.

[cid:[email protected]]<http://cvs.opengroup.org/pegasus-doc/CIMClient.html#DOC.1.3.1.1.7>void

connectLocal ()
Creates connection to the server for Local clients.

Hi Hitha,
Open Pegasus allows you to connect via the CIMClient::connect api where you can provide the ESX Host Session ID. We have tried it and it works. What is not supported today is that, the CIMClient does not communicate with the ESX Host to fetch the session ID. This is probably present in the SFCB Client today.

Sahana

Hitha,

Currently, connecting to a CIMOM using session ID or ticket is not supported in Open Pegasus. There is connectLocal() which connects to the local CIM Server as the current user.

Subject: Clarification regarding OpenPegasus connect API

Hi,

As part of supporting VMWare's lockdown mode (http://blogs.vmware.com/esxi/2010/09/the-new-lockdown-mode-in-esxi-41.html), we would like to know whether OpenPegasus provides any API that accepts a session ID (or a ticket) instead of username and password to connect to a CIMOM.

Since lockdown mode does not allow login in using the user name/ password and mandates that any CIM client connects using a ticket issued by a managing entity, it is necessary that we have APIs that would support such a mechanism.

Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Hitha V
