Excellent project.
But unfortunately I will have to suggest you look at CIM Studio by Microsoft.
While I dislike COM and the binary way Microsoft has implemented CIM in their WMI (Windows Managed Instrumentation), their GUI is far better than anything else out there.
I did a text based one for HP once, using CIMCLI commands to get the data, and then just display as text on a console screen.
But a real GUI comparable to CIM Studio but for Linux, would be incredibly useful I think.
I don't understand why all Linux distributions don't already come with something like that, since it is so essential.
