The idea of "guaranteeing maximum anonymity" is indeed somewhat naive in my opinion. Perhaps the answer is in the word "maximum" which could easily be a very low bar. However, the very act of using OpenNIC domains does actually give users a fair amount of anonymity compared to using standard DNS. Regarding something being stated, I didn't see any charter, draft or otherwise, for this TLD. ~ Ole On Sun, 27 Jan 2019 20:12:59 -0600 kevin <[email protected]> wrote: > I'm not a fan of long domain names, especially TLDs, but > if someone wants to use it... *shrug* > > I AM skeptical about this claim, though: > "The TLD is free for everyone and should guarantee > maximum anonymity." > > More than anything, it should at least be stated > somewhere that it is using tor or blockchain/crypto, or > some other form of id masking, which I can't find > anywhere. > > This type of "guarantee" has no recourse in the event > that any anonymity fails. > > I'm mincing english words here, but I would suggest the > wording be changed to reflect that security is high but > there's no guarantee and then how anonymity is provided. > > Kevin > > > On Sun, 2019-01-27 at 13:45 -0800, [email protected] wrote: > > I'm going to bump this because it really should > > have some discussion. > > > > My first impression is that .anonymous is rather > > long, and also specific.
