I am happy to announce the availability of OpenNMS 1.6.4, the next
production release of OpenNMS, as well as OpenNMS 1.7.2, the next
development release (which should become OpenNMS 1.8 in a couple of
months).

As usual, the stable release of OpenNMS only includes small features
and bug fixes. These include improvements to the thresholding system,
a new BGP peer monitor and visual improvements to the charting system.
A detailed list can be found here:

http://www.opennms.org/index.php/New_and_Noteworthy#New_in_OpenNMS_1.6.4

The new version of our development (unstable) release is also
available. The 1.7 branch includes a large number of new features,
including a replacement for capsd called provisiond, WMI support, a
Layer 2 SNMP status poller, an integration with RANCID, and Asterisk
notification support (send notifications through your Asterisk server).

Note that you should only use 1.7 in production with extreme caution
as it is designed as a development release until it has been fully
tested. Please help us test it by deploying it in a test environment.

It should be available from the yum and deb repos, as well as
Sourceforge.

We hope you enjoy OpenNMS as much as we've enjoyed making it.
