It's time for This Week in OpenNMS. This week we did more 1.8 work,
released 1.7.5, and made progress on an OpenNMS iPhone application.

Project Updates
---------------

- Stable: Current Release is 1.6.5

1.6.5 is the current stable release, released May 16th. It fixes a
number of bugs, and adds a few features. For a full list, see the
bugzilla 1.6.5 milestone. This is a non-critical but recommended
upgrade for anyone on OpenNMS versions older than 1.6.5.

- Unstable: Current Release is 1.7.5

1.7.5 is the current unstable release, tagged July 13th. Since 1.7.4,
there have been a ton of bugfixes, as well as updates to thresholding,
RANCID, upgrades, maps, provisiond, and other juicy stuff. A 1.7.x
overview is available in the release notes on the site.

- Unstable: Modularizing the Web Build

Donald has been continuing his work on breaking up the webapp build. A
first blush of the infrastructure work needed to chop things up is in
trunk now, although it still needs some polishing.

- Unstable: REST Updates

In the process of working on an iPhone app, I have been cleaning up some
of our REST APIs to be a bit more intuitive to parse.

- Unstable: RANCID Updates

Rocco made a few more bugfixes to the RANCID code, including one that
should fix the single-quote issue that's been discussed on the mailing
list for a while now.

iPhone Application
------------------

In my spare time, I've been fiddling around with Xcode and learning my
way around Objective C with the goal of making an OpenNMS iPhone
application. This weekend, I managed to get it somewhat working, so I
thought I'd post a preview. Here are some screenshots:

Now that I've got the basics worked out (learning Objective C, figuring
out Interface Builder, parsing the REST XML) I hope I can have something
useful put together in the next few weeks. It's been a fun learning
experience, Objective C is not as scary as I'd feared... ;)
