It's time for This Week in OpenNMS. This week we worked on the iPhone
app some more, vacationed (in Matt and Tarus's case), and tried not to
pass out this time getting hepatitis immunization shots (in my case).
Project Updates
---------------
- Stable: Current Release is 1.6.5
1.6.5 is the current stable release, released May 16th. It fixes a
number of bugs, and adds a few features. For a full list, see the
bugzilla 1.6.5 milestone. This is a non-critical but recommended
upgrade for anyone on OpenNMS versions older than 1.6.5.

- Unstable: Current Release is 1.7.5
1.7.5 is the current unstable release, tagged July 13th. Since 1.7.4,
there have been a ton of bugfixes, as well as updates to thresholding,
RANCID, upgrades, maps, provisiond, and other juicy stuff. A 1.7.x
overview is available in the release notes on the site.

- Unstable: iPhone App Development
I've continued working on the iPhone application. I've done a lot of
code cleanup, including switching to TouchXML[1] instead of TinyXML for
DOM parsing, since it appears to have solved some memory leak issues.
I've also added an alarm view[2] and intend to flesh out the event and
alarm detail pages this week.
Also, if there are any features you'd look for in the iPhone client,
please let me know. I'm kind of scratching the obvious itches right
now, but there's a lot of potential for a mobile client to do a lot of
neat stuff.

- Unstable: SMS API Updates
Last week I also added a simple library for mapping hosts to phone
numbers that will be used in the SMS poller we're working on.
- Unstable: Map Updates
Antonio has been doing some updates in the map code.
- Unstable: Webapp Refactor
We've hit some roadblocks in maven assemblies so some of the webapp
refactoring has been undone for now.
- Unstable: Monitor Updates
Jason Aras is wrapping up his monitor updates, including the JDBC
monitor and a Bean Scripting Framework monitor which will let you write
arbitrary monitors in languages like JavaScript.
- Unstable: Ackd
Dave has been working on adding a RESTful interface to Ackd which will
allow acknowledging alarms and notifications programmatically.
Say 'Hi' at OSCON

Matt and Dave are at OSCON this week, so be on the lookout for guys in
OpenNMS shirts. Hopefully you'll see them when we win Best Project for
the Enterprise. ;) Voting ends sometime today, so if you haven't
already, please do so!
