OpenNMS 1.0.2 has been released and is available from the website. The web
installer and apt should work fine for Red Hat 7 and Mandrake 8.
There is a dependency problem with the Red Hat 8 RPMS right now, which I
have fixed. New RPMs will be uploaded by 3pm (15:00) EDT.
RPMs will exist for Mandrake 9, but we have yet to modify the installer to
support Mandrake 9 (it uses urpm versus apt). We should have that fixed by
this weekend.
Also, Tony has created Debian packages which can be downloaded from
ftp.opennms.org. There are packages for both Woody and Sid. Since there is
no deb for the Java SDK, Tony has built an "installer" package which is
also included in that list. The OpenNMS installer should be modified to
handle Debian in a couple of days.
I will send out an announcement when the Red Hat 8 and Mandrake 9 packages
are ready, and when Mandrake 9 and Debian are supported by the installer.
Version 1.0.2 is an update to the production or stable release of OpenNMS.
It only contains bugfixes and configuration changes. The biggest news with
this release is the addition of over 2750 new trap event definitions.

2.1. Changes in OpenNMS 1.0.2 and Above
The following bug fixes and configuration additions occurred between
1.0.0 and 1.0.2:
* Corrected Event Configuration Functionality
The SNMP Generic Traps, numbers 0 through 5, were hard-coded
into OpenNMS. Thus if you wanted to treat linkDown events from
one system differently than another, you had to do so via an
external script. This has been corrected. Also, the order in
which the events are listed in eventconf.xml is now strictly
enforced. Bug 666
* Added Over 2750 Event Definitions
The eventconf.xml file has been greatly expanded to include
event definitions for SNMP traps from 3Com, APC, Brocade, Compaq
Insight Manager, Cisco Fore, HP, Intel, Microsoft, Novell,
Oracle, SonicWall and Xerox devices.
* Notification Filtering Now Works Correctly
The ability to build rules to filter notifications is one of the
more useful features of notifications, but it didn't work. This
has been corrected, and in the process, filtering node-level
events via IP address was implemented. Bug 664.
* Fixed Service Deletion in Downtime Model
The poller downtime model allows for a service to be deleted if
it has been down for a certain amount of time. This did not work
correctly and has been fixed.
* Reduced the Amount of Data Initially Collected from the ifTable
During discovery, the ifTable is collected from each device that
is found to support SNMP. On some HP switches, this would fail
due to a limitation on the SNMP maximum packet size. All
non-essential ifTable elements were removed from the request
that appears to resolve the problem.
* Removed Spaces in Notification Path Names
Spaces in Notification Path names have been known to cause
problems. The Web UI was modified to disallow spaces in path
names. Bug 657.
* Fixed the AM/PM Ordering on Performance Report UI.
In the Custom Performance Report Web UI, 11 PM was followed by
12 PM, when it should have been 12 AM. This has been corrected.
