It’s time for This Week in OpenNMS. (If your travels take you to Nürnberg this week – or if you’re already there – stop by the Open Source Monitoring Conference and greet Order of the Green Polo member Ronny Trommer, who’s presenting!)

Project Updates

1.8: Current Release is 1.8.4
1.8.4 is the current stable release, tagged 13 September 2010. For a complete list of changes and updates, see the “New and Noteworthy” page on the OpenNMS wiki. As always, it is recommended that you back up your database before upgrading.
Analyzed some recent patterns in the support ticket and bug reporting queues
Added events for Concord eHealth Health Report / LiveExceptions traps
Added support in OpenNMS’s JRobin RRD strategy class for RRDTool-style “VDEF” directives in resource and response graph definitions, which makes it possible to plot (or print) the Nth-percentile of one or more data sources on your graphs. No changes were made to JRobin itself to enable this feature.
We’re still bug-hunting out way through the KSC reporting code – if you have issues related to KSC reports, many of these changes have already been committed, so please try a recent snapshot..
Bugs Fixed Since Last TWiO

#4142 – Improved high-level logging in DnsMonitor, to provide more information on the reason for a DNS outage
#4143 – rrd-configuration.properties now has correct object extension
#4144 – Fixed a problem with configuration objects
Upcoming Events

Order of the Green Polo member Ronny Trommer will be speaking at the Open Source Monitoring Conference in Nürnberg on Wednesday, 6 October 2010.
If you have anything to add to the events list, please let me know.
Until Next Week…

As always, if there’s anything you’d like me to talk about in a future TWiO, or you just have a comment or criticism that you’d like to share, don’t hesitate to say hi.
