It's time for This Week in OpenNMS <http://www.opennms.org/>. In the
last few weeks we worked on reporting, IPv6, system feedback, JICMP, and
surveillance views.

  Project Updates

    * 1.8: Current Release is 1.8.7 (Chuck-will's-widow)
      1.8.7
      <http://www.opennms.org/documentation/ReleaseNotesStable.html#opennms-1.8.7> is
the current stable release, tagged 8 December 2010. For a complete
list of changes and updates, see the "New and Noteworthy" page on
      the OpenNMS wiki
      <http://www.opennms.org/wiki/New_and_Noteworthy#New_in_OpenNMS_1.8.7>.
As always, it is recommended that you back up your database before
      upgrading.
    * Donald, Jonathan, and Ronny did more work on reports, including
support for parameters in the UI.
    * Donald and Ben updated the GWT code to be twice as fast, using a
complicated development technique called, "updating the GWT
      dependencies from 2.0 to 2.1."
    * Seth did a bunch more work on IPv6, and is approaching a point
where we can attempt some integration-level tests.
    * Ben wrapped up adding a web UI for the system report tool, as well
as the ability to open OpenNMS support tickets from the UI.
    * Matt has been working on rewriting JICMP to use JNA
<https://jna.dev.java.net/>, which will get rid of a lot of
platform-specific issues doing ICMP (especially Windows).
    * Matt completely rewrote the queries used in surveillance views,
resulting in massive performance improvements with large datasets.

      wiki.

Node Ip Route Info" link causes exception

      <http://atlnsmtug-jan-2011.eventbrite.com/> in Atlanta, GA.

  Until Next Week...

As always, if there's anything you'd like me to talk about in a future
TWiO, or you just have a comment or criticism that you'd like to share,
don't hesitate to say hi <mailto:[email protected]>.
