What is the default setting at the top of the file, managed? If you  
just want to manage the 172.x.x.x network you'll need to set it to  
"unmanaged".

Hrm, that could be a bug. Did you delete and readd the node?

You need to set an include or an exclude range in collectd- 
configuration. If an interface is not included in a collection package  
it will not be eligible for becoming a primary interface.

For devices that have IP addresses that change, I use the "Manage  
Provisioning Groups" Admin page. I manually add the node, set the IPs  
and services, and set the primary SNMP interface. If a node has a  
foreignid it will not be scanned by capsd.
