Ben, Regarding WBEM/WMI monitoring and data collection... I would first like to say that I've put a lot of work into this (and need to start committing) but I simply don't have the free time to make it usable. If someone comes in from Google Summer of Code I'd be willing to work with them on this, providing them the code I've already put together as well as what guidance I can provide regarding pollers and collectors. I would like to add one more thing on the list that I've been envisioning as being part of my WMI work. Asset and Inventory Collection: * Rewrite the Asset page. - Rather than having a fixed table for assets, have a keyed table so that as asset data is collected and classified for a node, custom (hardware or device type specific) fields appear. - I had planned on using collectd but brozow had suggested cloning collectd to allow multi-protocol collection. Antonio has written a telnet collector whose goal is to collect switch/router details, for example. - Using WmiClient - collect important Windows system information. Again - these are things that I've been experimenting with and even in some cases have a game-plan for but I simply do not have the free time in my personal life to sit down and code them...
