[opennms-devel] collecting scalar vs. tabular data

Hi!

I've got my collector code now collecting tabular and scalar data and
the scalar data is being stored properly.  Many thanks to all who
responded with suggestions and thanks in particular to Jeff who has
been soooo patient with my questions.

My question to the list now centers around how tabular data is
separated and stored in RRD files.  

[In particular, I'm having an extremely difficult time wading through
the SNMP collector code so I figured I'd ask the list.]

How does one structure the returned tabular data so that its stored
properly in rrd?

Should I separate out each row of data and put each row in a separate
attribute group or will collectd do this for me?

How do I tell collectd which collection attribute to use as an
instance value?

Any other suggestions?
