Alex, what version of PostgreSQL is on this system?  The thing about  
YESTERDAY sounds vaguely like a place where we depend on an implicit  
cast that was removed from PostgreSQL 8.3, but I'm not 100% sure  
that's what it is.  In the past we've had startup problems with the  
IcedTea "Java 7" VM that related to unmet dependencies needed by  
Spring, I also wonder if this is the same type of problem.

When you refer to a non-working web app, what do you mean?  Does the  
JettyServer fail to start up?  Start up but fail to accept connections  
on 8980/tcp?  Accept connections bug give 404 or 503 errors for every  
request?
