This message often indicates that your snmp-graph.properties file is  
broken.  Have you made any edits to this file on your system?

The web app can run perfectly well in the absence of Statsd.

1.6-testing is a staging branch for unreviewed commits that are  
candidates for 1.6.  You could look at svn log or at the archives of  
the opennms-cvs [sic] mailing list to see what recent commits have  
gone in.
