OpenNMS - cannot get topology map working

Hello, I am a newbie and have just installed OpenNMS (20.0.1 w/ Java 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.131-b11, mixed mode) and Postgres 9.6.3.2 64bit) on Windows 2012R2 64bit (VMware virtual machine) Whenever I start the topology map it fails (Possible causes could be that the database is not responding, the OpenNMS application has stopped or is not running, or there is an issue with the servlet container.) and the link for error details doesn't work. Any help to troubleshoot that would be greatly appreciated.
