problem with collection data via snmp extend

Hi!

I have the problem that ONMS doesn't collect data provided by snmp extend.

RRD files are created but filled with NaN values instead of real values. The only hint I found is this log:

2017-08-01 11:52:51,717 INFO [Collectd-Thread-41-of-50] o.o.n.c.p.r.RrdPersistOperationBuilder: updateRRD: updating RRD file /var/lib/opennms/rrd/snmp/fs/IT/rmvm056/YExRateRemain.rrd with values '1501581172:U'

As we discussed on Mattermost the :U should stand for UNKNOWN.

But what does this mean?

Here some information.

The snmpwalk which provides the values I want to collect:

The oid to collect is .1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.1.3.2.3.1.2.13.89.69.120.82.97.116.101.82.101.109.97.105.110 (value = 4687)

So the datacollection config looks like:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<datacollection-group name="Github">
 <group name="github" ifType="ignore">
   <mibObj oid=".1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.1.3.2.2.1.2.13.89.69.120.82.97.116.101.82.101.109.97.105" instance="110" alias="YExRateRemain" type="octetstring" />
  </group>
<systemDef name="Github">
  <sysoidMask>.1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.</sysoidMask>
  <collect>
    <includeGroup>github</includeGroup>
  </collect>
</systemDef>
</datacollection-group>

datacollection-config.xml has an "Github" entry.

Because this datacollection works fine https://github.com/opennms-config-modules/ntp/blob/master/datacollection/netsnmp-ntp.xml I tried to adapt it for my case. But mine doesn't work... :-/

I already tried a lot:

* changed type to octetstring, integer

* iType all and ignore

* ONMS v20.0.1 and 19.0.1

* Tried other sysDef and group names

* also tried to collect

.1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.1.3.2.4.1.2.13.89.69.120.82.97.116.101.82.101.109.97.105.110.1 = STRING: 4687

with

   <mibObj oid=".1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.1.3.2.2.1.2.13.89.69.120.82.97.116.101.82.101.109.97.105.101" instance="1" alias="YExRateRemain" type="octetstring" />

but in this case no RRD file was created.

Thanks for feedback!
