CIFS and NFS performance monitoring configuration

Has anyone ever configured performance monitoring for CIFS and NFS shares? I'm looking for IOPS, throughput, and any other performance metrics that would be useful for tuning each of these sub systems. For CIFS monitoring, I only have access to the client, so only client side monitoring is available to me. For NFS monitoring, I have access to both the Server and Client, so monitoring on both sides would be feasible.
