Hi,

I know this is resurrecting an old thread but I wanted to come back to this issue as it's still occurring, and I never followed up after the replies I received (for which I apologize).

I'm focusing on one particular node for which data collection last stopped on the 2nd February after restarting itself around the 22nd January. No changes were made to the node or within OpenNMS at the time that I am aware of.

What should I be looking for in the logs? I turned on DEBUG for collectd today and searched an hour's worth of logs without finding any references to my node's IP or ID number. I also looked at historical logs (without DEBUG) going back to the 2nd and the instrumentation log shows collection for my node starting on the 22nd January and then it just stops logging anything for my node's IP at the time the data collection stops on the 2nd. I don't see any errors or warnings indicating anything went wrong.

I'm able to do an snmpwalk from the OpenNMS server to my node without any trouble, so SNMP is working.

Does OpenNMS "blacklist" nodes it can't get data from?

Thanks for your help.

Regards, Dominic

I would propose to activate debug logging level for collectd daemon and check the appropriate logfile for the ip addresses of the nodes that don't collect" to see if they are no longer asked to deliver data or if they are no longer answering to the snmp requests.
