John,

Try using parameter key "win32ServiceName" instead of just "serviceName" in your default-foreign-source.xml.

If you do a poller test on that service does it work?

Subject: [opennms-discuss] Trouble setting up MS Windows Service monitor

I'm trying to configure a Service Monitor for monitoring Windows Services, but all the online examples I can find show using capsd.

I have enabled SNMP on the windows server, and confirmed that the OpenNMS server is querying data. I have added the following to poller-configuration.xml and default-foreign-source.xml

Poller-configuration.xml:
   <package name="ABBCS-Microsoft Package">
      <filter>(IPADDR != '0.0.0.0') & (categoryName == 'Microsoft')</filter>
      <include-range begin="1.1.1.1" end="254.254.254.254"/>
      <include-range begin="::1" end="ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff"/>
      <rrd step="300">
         <rra>RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:2016</rra>
         <rra>RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:12:1488</rra>
         <rra>RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:366</rra>
         <rra>RRA:MAX:0.5:288:366</rra>
         <rra>RRA:MIN:0.5:288:366</rra>
      </rrd>
...
      <service name="Print-Spooler" interval="300000" user-defined="false" status="on">
          <parameter key="retry" value="6"/>
          <parameter key="timeout" value="4950"/>
          <parameter key="port" value="161"/>
          <parameter key="service-name" value="Print Spooler"/>
      </service>
...
   <monitor service="Print-Spooler" class-name="org.opennms.netmgt.poller.monitors.Win32ServiceMonitor"/>

Default-foreign-source.xml:

      <detector name="Print-Spooler" class="org.opennms.netmgt.provision.detector.snmp.Win32ServiceDetector">
         <parameter key="port" value="161"/>
         <parameter key="serviceName" value="Print Spooler"/>
      </detector>

However this config is not detecting the service on the Windows server which I have confirmed is running. What am I missing that is stopping this from working?

(Current version of OpenNMS is 21.0.2)

Regards,
John Blackburn
