Hello David, Thanks for your answer. I just want to add that I've finaly found the way how to use my legacy IRC client (instantbird) with your mattermost server. That's a very good thing for me: Now, I can have smooth chats/discussions with opennms community members again! yeah! \o/ The IRC and the mailing-lists are my legacy ways to exchange with opennms community members. And, having missed the IRC->mattermost transition, I was viewing the mailing-list shutdown in an unfavourable light. But, I can look at it favourably now that I'm in the mattermost train again, and that you explained that it wasn't a mailing-list shutdown but rather a transition. Let me add 2 (hopefullly constructive) criticisms/questions/proposals: 1. Until yesterday, I wasn't aware of the https://wiki.opennms.org/wiki/Chat#Mattermost_over_IRC page. so I wasn't aware I could use my legacy IRC client to connect to your mattermost server. Why not adding a link to this page in the #opennms IRC channel's topic? 2. Regarding the mailing-list to stackoverflow transition, will it be possible to answer questions via email? Having worked in the community for 15 years, now, I can appreciate how difficult it is to move from the mailing lists but we're trying to accommodate the community which I believe greater than just the mailing list. >> >> If this doesn't workout, we can always vote to go back. Let's give it a try. Like you, I'm very fond of the email list but trying to be more flexible and accommodating in my old age. :) >> >> >> Cheers, >> David >> >> >> David Hustace >> The OpenNMS Group, Inc. >> >> > ------------------------------------------------------------ > ------------------ > Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most > engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot > _______________________________________________ > Please read the OpenNMS Mailing List FAQ: > http://www.opennms.org/index.php/Mailing_List_FAQ > > opennms-discuss mailing list > > To *unsubscribe* or change your subscription options, see the bottom of > this page: > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/opennms-discuss > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ Please read the OpenNMS Mailing List FAQ: http://www.opennms.org/index.php/Mailing_List_FAQ opennms-discuss mailing list To *unsubscribe* or change your subscription options, see the bottom of this page: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/opennms-discuss
