The first solution is highly dependent upon the sort of equipment deployed
in your environment; you'll have to reference each vendor's documentation
to know how to configure SNMP trap targets. As an arbitrary example, see
Juniper's documentation[1].

I haven't used the second solution (having OpenNMS send traps), so I can't
speak further to it.
