Could you provide those links so that we can correct them? There is "some" horizontal scale with Minions and that is within the location. It is better to have multiple tiny Minions as apposed to on big Minion such that the multiple Minion processes can work a large competing consumer queue. Minions don't need CPU, they're just OpenNMS application proxies, so, the more the better if there is a lot of monitoring work to be done. Example: OpenNMS in the Cloud -> Internet -> Data Center #1 -> Minion(s) -> NE'sssssssssss -> Data Center #2 -> Minion(s) -> NE'sssssssssss -> Head Quarters -> Minion(s) -> NE'sss This allows OpenNMS to scale horizontally in terms of the number of Polling and Data Collection tasks to be completed in remote locations but doesn't scale the performance of processing that data on the backend, that's where Sentinel piece comes into play as Jesse describes. Please send us those misleading links.
