Upgrade of opennms fails to start

GM, 


I upgraded opennms and now I am getting the following error. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have followed the normal process for upgrading the system. 



Starting OpenNMS: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to determine the location $OPENNMS_HOME. 
at org.opennms.bootstrap.Bootstrap.findOpenNMSHome(Bootstrap.java:396) 
at org.opennms.bootstrap.Bootstrap.main(Bootstrap.java:470) 
Unknown value return from doStatus: 1 
failed
