Hi all,

I have a problem that I'm wondering if OpenNMS has an easy solution for.

Currently, we have a metric that records the number of jobs in a print queu=
e and a threshold that triggers if that queue length exceeds a threshold.

However, this doesn't quite meet our needs, as it is possible to have a pri=
nter that is stalled with a queue length less than the threshold and we don=
't get alerted about it.

So what I'd like to be able to do is to raise an alert if the queue length =
is not decreasing over time.

Obviously, if the queue length is 0, then there is no need to alert for a l=
ack of a decrease...

Looking for ideas on ways to address this.

Print queue not processing jobs is the real issue being looked for here, so=
a case where new jobs being added at the same rate that queued jobs are co=
mpleted might show as no decrease in queue length but in reality, the queue=
is doing its job so no alert would be necessary.

Print server is Oracle Linux 7 running CUPS.

OpenNMS Version 23.0.1

Regards,

John
