Do you have IP tables installed?  (yes )

What is in the /opt/opennms/logs/webapp/jetty.log file?

On the system, can you "telnet localhost 8980" and get a connection? no,
when I telnet localhost:8980 the error is
localhost:8980/telnet: Name or service not known
