Everyone,

I have 2 major problems...I'm a Linux newbie and an OpenNMS newbie.
Lot's of Windows and DEC VMS experience.

Anyway, I am reading/following the OpenNMS Install Guide on an fresh
unbuntu server 9.10 install.

No issue until I got to the PostgreSQL section. Some changes here
because of newer version, but still seems ok.

But then I get to the Where to Find OpenNMS Data section. I understand
that this is helping me know where OpenNMS data will be located, but do
I have to create the environment variable before running the next step?
If so, I assume that I will have to point the variable at a directory;
does that needs to be created now?

Now on to the Performing a Fresh Install section. There is no blurb
here about Debian-based distributions. I assume that I must enter

sudo apt-get install opennms

so I did that (I have reported this issue separately). Lots of stuff
goes by; I assume its all OK.

And now for the showstopper. The next section says that I need to
utilize the runjava program supplied with OpenNMS, but I don't seem to
have OPENNMS_HOME defined and I cannot locate the files that have been
installed for me. I try a:

locate runjava

and I do not find the file. I stumble into /etc/opennms which seems to
contain a bunch of OpenNMS configuration files, but there is not a bin
folder here.

I'm stuck. Can anyone help?
