Version conflict for PostgreSQL 8.3/8.4

It appears that there may be a version conflict for postgreSQL 8.4 and 
iplike.

When I 'apt-get install opennms' PostgreSQL 8.3 gets installed and then 
upgraded to 8.4 (it appears that PostgreSQL 8.3 has been deprecated). 
But the iplike supplied in the OpenNMS package is for PostgreSQL 8.3; 
when I try to continue the install I get an error about incompatible 
versions (trying to use iplike for 8.3 with postgreSQL 8.4).

Can anyone help?
