Hi,

The eventd-problem is resolved. Was a thing i was forgotten in the postgresql.conf. Now i have another problem. Opennms is completely started, but apparently port 8980 isn't open.
I notice that three ports have been opened : (1099, 1199 and 8181), but not 8980
1099/tcp open unknown
1199/tcp open unknown
5432/tcp open postgresql
8181/tcp open unknown

Anybody knows why ? or which port I should connect to for reaching the webinterface ?
thx and Greetz,
Johan

Onderwerp: [opennms-install] OpenNMS:Name=Eventd - error

Hi,

I have an installation problem with installation of opennms 1.8.3 on ubuntu-10, 32-bit version. I followed averything according to the installation steps on http://www.opennms.org/wiki/Installation:Debian. I have the following things installated :
postgresql : version 8.4
java : JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20

Issuing the command /etc/init.d/opennms start I receive the error "Executing command: /usr/share/opennms/bin/runjava -r -- -Djava.endorsed.dirs=/usr/share/opennms/lib/endorsed -Dopennms.home=/usr/share/opennms -Dcom.sun.$
[DEBUG] System property 'opennms.library.jicmp' set to '/usr/lib/jni/libjicmp.so. Attempting to load jicmp library from this location.
[INFO] Successfully loaded jicmp library.
An error occurred while attempting to start the "OpenNMS:Name=Eventd" service (class org.opennms.netmgt.eventd.jmx.Eventd). Shutting down and exiting."

All i could have read about this errors, seems to be connected to the connection to the postgresql-database. I checked everything, and this database seems to be connected. Nevertheless, when i do a nmap on port 5432, i see the port as "closed". When I do telnet to localhost, it seems to be open.
nmap localhost -p 5432

Starting Nmap 5.00 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2010-08-24 13:44 CEST
Interesting ports on localhost (127.0.0.1):
PORT STATE SERVICE
5432/tcp closed postgresql

When I do netstat -an |grep 5432, I noticed that there are no ipv4 connections.
root@belx21ke:/var/log/opennms/daemon# netstat -an | grep 5432
tcp6 0 0 ::1:5432 :::* LISTEN
unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 396383 /var/run/postgresql/.s.PGSQL.5432

My pg_hba.conf contains :
# "local" is for Unix domain socket connections only
local all all trust
# IPv4 local connections:
host all all 127.0.0.1/32 trust
# IPv6 local connections:
host all all ::1/128 trust

Is this normal ? Anybody has in idea ? From the logs in the postgresql-database, the dbase seems to be running : I attached the ouput.log and the eventd.log.
Thx a lot and greetz,
Johan
