Were you defining each node individually in Discovery or using the address range feature? When you delete the node, is it being removed from Discovery?

Subject: [opennms-install] Nodes add automatically after deletion

Greetings,

This weekend i finally decided that the NMS i was going to use to monitor my network devices would be OpenNMS because it has features that i couldn't even imagine. So Monday morning i downloaded the VM to give it a test and i noticed that the nodes won't delete, instead, they are being rediscovered each time i add a new node (I even tried restarting the service after each deletion without success).

I added one of my servers and i found out that i misspelled the SNMP community so i delete it from the Web GUI (Node & Data) and added it again with the correct info. My surprise was seeing that the node appeared twice.

I ran a service opennms restart but all deleted nodes reappeared after adding a new one. Then i tried deleting and waiting for an hour to restart the service (no luck). Then, i deleted the nodes and waited for a whole day (one more fail).

It's very frustrating because i don't know what i'm doing wrong, i've read everything in the wiki that seams related but with no luck. I can't understand why nodes won't delete.

I even made a fresh install over CentOS5 to see if it was a buggy VM, repeated the whole process and the issue remained. Then i update via Yum (thought it could be a version bug) but with no luck.

Right now i'm running OpenNMS 1.8.12-1 in Fedora 14 with latest stable versions of PostgreSQL and JDK.

The only modifications made to my installation were:
 -Installing the opennms-plugin-provisioning-map and opennms-plugin-provisioning-linkg
 -Enabling webacl in opennms.properties
-Adding custom maps in mapsadapter-configuration.xml with a RWRO in mapAccess field.
-Changing snmpStorageFlag from Select to All in etc/datacollection-config.xml

I would apretiate any help you could give me, i've thought of issuing a new bug but i don't even have the enough knowledge to be sure that i'm not missing some configuration.

Withour further ado,

Rabih Bou Orm.
