Hi All,

I am planning to upgrade my version of openNMS to the latest and greatest but just wanted to check a few things before proceeding.

Its currently running on a RHEL 5 Server. I have created using the openNMS site a step by step instruction to upgrading openNMS, I would just like someone to overlook this as I have never upgraded openNMS before, and since it has all our data in it I didn't want to lose anything in the upgrade.

I am doing a SQL backup and OS backup before proceeding for a fall back but hoping not to use it

Upgrade OpenNMS
Current Version : 1.6.5-1
Upgrade to 1.10.0-2

Upgrade latest JDK
Current Version : jdk1.5.0_18
Upgrade to jdk-7u3-linux-x64

Install Repo Package for openNMS install for RHEL 5
Run command as root:
OpenNMS RPM:
rpm -Uvh http://yum.opennms.org/repofiles/opennms-repo-stable-rhel5.noarch.rpm

Stop OpenNMS:
/opt/opennms/bin/opennms stop

Install latest JDK file
sh jdk-7u3-linux-x64.rpm -x

install latest openNMS
yum -y install opennms

Disable Automatic Yum Updates

Vi /etc/yum.repos.d/opennms

Add line enabled=0

Configure Java
/opt/opennms/bin/run java -S /usr/java/latest/bin.java

Create/Update the OpenNMS Database
Whenever you install OpenNMS or upgrade it, you should run the "/opt/opennms/bin/install" command, to create the OpenNMS database, or update it to the latest version. The install command takes many options, but in most cases all you should need is:

 *   -d - to update the database
 * -i - to insert any default data that belongs in the database
 * -s - to create or update the stored procedures OpenNMS uses for certain kinds of data access
/opt/opennms/bin/install -dis

Start openNMS
/sbin/service opennms start

Test and check openNMS

If anyone sees anything I have missed or done wrong could you please reply
