Yes, installed today. Worked fine, a few errors reported at install. On Linux install fails due to jicmp & rrd, but in Win EXE setup jicmp is included - which contradicts OpenNMS docs. Great how they decide it's not included and it's magically so simply by documenting it, for Linux.
Did not test "rrd" as don't see Win DLL for rdd on sourceforge (which is simply ignored in the OpenNMS documentation). If you look at the "admin" menu item (2nd from right) after login to opennms one of the config options relates to rrd. Not impressed with OpenNMS, won't bother trying to do anything with it. Lack of sensible responses to install issues and movement on installer errors is not encouraging.
Push seems to be to sell support, not promote opensource. Product does not seem to do anything Windows specific, e.g. scan Win ports or suck out machine OS. First menu "NodeList" is quite barren of useful info. Maybe can be configured to do so, but not out the box from what I saw. I think in terms of the "free" model SpiceWorks is probably on the right track. Web mgmt interfaces are overwhelmingly underwhelming in end-user friendliness.
Installed JDK, then postgres (one-click) DB setup during postgres install so skipped OpenNMS step for doing so. Don't know how OpenNMS knew what password to use since I didn't stick with defaults - maybe logging into OpenNMS does not access the DB...?
PTRG (not free) looks like quality (installed and played, very quick to get going) and site have lots of good free tools, reporting from product is terrible though. Kasaya does lots, interface rubbish imo, shared with sales, but they are fat and happy so no improvements coming. LevelPlatforms, no Linux support. VMware vCentre ops mgr, nice on the cover, not much substance for the money. VMTurbo, less fluffy looking then VMware offering but can at least see where issues are, not that cheap either. Lots of options, lots of wasted opportunities. I guess there are only two levels, beginner and advanced. Don't see anyone offering a well-rounded solution at the right price. ey bought and haven't integrated yet, but download is broken - seems to do what the Kasaya product does... will they quietly kill it off? The mgt interface looks heaps better from the screenshots. Good luck.
