To Ronald: i will enable debug as per your suggestions, and at the
moment no there is no firewall or proxy interfering

To Fred: yes i have have Java 7

Yes, I have tried the IP assigned and also using localhost; all result
in just a blank page.

Have you tried using the IP address of the machine instead of using the
localist address?
