That did it. I did see an error still about jrrd so I did a 'yum install jrrd'. What do I need to do so that jrrd is loaded when needed?

The template database (template1) appears to be using ASCII encoding rather than UTF-8. When the opennms database is created off this template, it fails.

If you do an internet search for ?postgresql change template1 encoding? there are instructions on how to recreate the template1 db with UTF8 encoding. That should cause the installer to work.
