Ron and Bob,

So I went thought everything and found that I did make those adds, but goofed on the IP address.  Instead of FOLLOWING the directions, I ASSUMED (and you know the old saying! LOL) that the IP should be that of my server, not the 127.0.0.1 in the directions.  Made the change and voila!  Everything loaded................On to the firewall section of the set up!

Chris,

Your postgresql database isn't configured for password authentication. See the wiki page http://www.opennms.org/wiki/QuickStart for a guide on how to reconfigure postgresql to get you past this.
