Problem with install of opennms (opennms-repo-stable-rhel7): conflict in java installs.

I am attempting to install opennms by following the instructions on this
page: 
http://www.opennms.org/wiki/Installation:Yum

and everything works fine until I get to the command
sudo yum install opennms

This command fails because it is attempting to install java 1.6 as a
dependency, and there is a conflict, specifically:

Downloading Packages:
Running rpm_check_debug
Running Transaction Test

Transaction Check Error:
  file /etc/init.d/jexec from install of jdk-2000:1.6.0_24-fcs.x86_64
conflicts with file from package jre-1.7.0_51-fcs.x86_64
----

This, despite the fact that the page in question states that "it is very
much recommended that you install the latest stable Java 7 JDK from Oracle
for the best performance.² (And I would prefer to use java 7!)

How do I get around this problem?
