Well, that too but you haven't gotten that far yet. You not only need
postgresql but you need to have configured authentication for it,
following instructions here:
http://www.opennms.org/wiki/Installation:Yum

But the problem that you posted has to do with setting OPENNMS_HOME to
/usr/share/opennms
instead of /opt/opennms.

Something is wrong for a yum-installed system.
Does 'rpm -q --list opennms-core |grep opt'  so that a bunch of stuff
should have landed in /opt/opennms?
Also, I thought the yum installation would pull in the jdk from the
opennms repository instead of needing your own tarball.
