cannot start opennms service

I am following this guide to install opennms and I've run into a few 
problems

Everything went well during the installation, but when I tried to start 
the opennms service I got the below.

service opennms start
Job for opennms.service failed. See 'systemctl status opennms.service' 
and 'journalctl -xn' for details.

So I run the below for more information.

systemctl status opennms.service -l
● opennms.service - LSB: OpenNMS - Open Source Network Management System
    Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/opennms)
    Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Sun 2016-04-17 08:11:56 
BST; 10min ago
   Process: 568 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/opennms start (code=exited, 
status=1/FAILURE)

Apr 17 08:11:56 OpenNMS opennms[568]: Starting Open Network Management 
System: opennmsStarted OpenNMS, but it stopped running: for details see 
/var/log/opennms/output.log
Apr 17 08:11:56 OpenNMS systemd[1]: opennms.service: control process 
exited, code=exited status=1
Apr 17 08:11:56 OpenNMS systemd[1]: Failed to start LSB: OpenNMS - Open 
Source Network Management System.
Apr 17 08:11:56 OpenNMS systemd[1]: Unit opennms.service entered failed 
state.*
