Josh,

@work
We are running version OpenNMS 17 on Scientific Linux. We split the
application and database server. I am not 100% sure on the Postgres version
at this time. I believe we did download from Postgres repositories, not
the defaults.

I know that we are running our production box without a Desktop Environment.

I also know that we were pointed in this direction for tuning.
http://www.opennms.org/wiki/Performance_tuning I think the most we did was
adjust the Java heap size.

We currently run them in a VMWare infrastructure with 8 Gb of RAM. I can
get more detail if it would be helpful tomorrow.

Monitoring over 400 devices at this time.

@home
I am running
Scientific Linux release 7.2 (Nitrogen)
Application and Server on the same box
Not running a Desktop Environment
Running on VMWare virtual environment (2 CPU, 6 GB RAM, 45 GB of disk)

Hope this helps in some way.

Thanks,
Tadge

I needed to get answers to a few questions which I am not finding by search=

1) The OpenNMS wiki states that RHEL 3, 4 and 5 are supported. Is 7 (7.2 is=
the latest version) not supported ?

2) Is RHEL workstation a good platform for OpenNMS, or is RHEL Server neede=

3) If Server is the better / required option, which server type / features =
are needed / best for this application ?

4) Is the PostGreSQL database included in the server ok, or should I not in=
stall that feature and instead download a different version ? (RHEL 7 provi=

5) Is there an optimal hardware configuration for an OpenNMS machine ?
