Patch Set 4:

Patch set 4 renames the helper to compat-close-fds, applies the suggested close_range simplification, and makes the descriptor tests adapt to RLIMIT_NOFILE. Verified current master with native and forced-fallback CMake builds, both low-limit test_misc runs, the Autotools main build, and all 17 OpenVPN unit tests.
