DCO also reduces latency and inter-packet delays, so it depends where
your bottlenecks are.
On high-speed links (10G in, 10G out), the extra delays "one packet sent
to userland, processed, sent to network, then next packet sent to
userland, ..." will kill your throughput, even if the CPU could cope.
