pptp unsupported protocol

The server has run for nearly a month without any problem, but today I could
connect to the server, but can't access any websites, so I look up the log
find that there is a lot of unsupported protocols, I try to
/etc/init.d/pptpd restart, no help, so I finally try to restart the server,
and then everything is OK...
I don't know why, could someone tell me?
