We are using only the cmd line linux scp.

I tried netcat and it wasn't faster.

The rate is exactly the same using scp from the server to the internal machine or the other way around. Interestingly, scp ran from the server converges quickly to 160KB/s whereas from the internal machine to the server if starts at 2.2MB/s until slowly converges down to 160KB/s.

Quite funky.
