Yes, lftp is much better than the native ftp client with the system.

No, the ProFTPD Project does not provide any FTP clients.
I personally like using `lftp`:
https://lftp.yar.ru/
I'm not sure of its logging capabilities, though. Other users on this light might have other preferences for FTP clients with better logging capabilities.
