[Proftpd-user] Proftpd and openssh simultaneously?

How can I set up a RHEL system to run proftpd just for ftp/sftp but 
still use openssh/openssl for remote ssh?

I currently replaced openssl with proftpd.  While I can sftp into my 
system, I get a message with

unsupported 'pty-req' channel requested, ignoring

when I try to openssh into my system (where I'm expecting a bash interface)

I've googled around and can't seem to find a solution.

Basically I need proftpd for sftp but need openssl/openssh for remote 
logins?
