    I don't know... Maybe your firewall is messing with the ftp
connections?

    Have you tested other ftp servers? In order to isolate the
problem, first you must identify the culprit. If other servers work,
then *maybe* the culprit is pure-ftpd. In that case you should try
other authentication methods just in case.

    Another idea that is crossing my mind: the client maybe is trying
to use passive mode and the server may have passive mode disabled.
Does your client fall back to active mode if passive mode doesn't
work?
