yes.  when you click reply, your MUA moves the cursor to the top of the email.  
use your mouse or your keyboard to move the cursor away from the top of the 
email.  For instance, to just after the first paragraph.  Kinda like I just 
did! :)

you will probably have to tell pure-ftpd what 'uid' to use for anonymous.  I'm 
not familiar with cygwin, but if it's trying to emulate a POSIX environment, 
surely it has SOME way to emulate UIDs.  You may want to check over the 
documentation again.
