Yes, but the OS doesn't seem to have any problem with that directory. Yes, it's slower than others but it works. 
I meant how can I debug the problem on the FTP server side, because it looks to me it's a matter of that. Unfortunately even after enabling Verbose mode I see no error, so I don't know how to work it out.
FS is ext4 on both the new and the old server, if matters. Mount options are the same. 

I'd like to resolve it on the server side, rather than asking customer to reduce file number in the directory.
