Try changing the hostname at the command line (the Linux command line, not the vtysh). Run this command: hostname ROS001 Read up here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/87665/how-do-i-change-the-hostname-without-a-restart Personally, I don't capital letters in a hostname as the the Capital O can be mistaken for a zero 0, I with l or maybe even a 1.
