I used rdesktop to connect to the latest Windows Vista
(build 5381), and got the following error.

ERROR: modulus len 0x108
ERROR: send: Connection reset by peer
Broken pipe

I believe this is related to encryption.

Believe the issue now is with Network Level Authentication on Windows
Server 2008.  Has anyone seen plans for rdesktop to support this?

This problem is so annoying.  I am very close to using DSLinux as a thin
client, but the rdesktop software doesn't work with Windows 7 or Vista.

I just discovered this bug after getting a new work PC with Vista.  This
is going to be a problem since my main desktop at the house uses rdesktop
to connect.  Is there any new timeline?

I can not get rdesktop to work with Windows Vista pre-RC1
build 5536.

I made the suggested SEC_MODULUS change and recompiled the
source with no luck.

It just sits there at a black screen.

Any thoughts?

Another person who had this problem.  I tested a snapshot on
2006-06-15 around 2:30PM EST or so and I can now connect to
vista but for some reason I can only use 24 bit color depth.
 Using -a 8 or -a 16 gives the error below.  Using the
official released version of the client I don't get that
error but I can't connect with it of course.

X Error of failed request:  BadValue (integer parameter out
of range for operation)
  Major opcode of failed request:  78 (X_CreateColormap)
  Value in failed request:  0x105
  Serial number of failed request:  8
  Current serial number in output stream:  9

Wow, it actually prints a useful error message, albeit
slightly cryptic to the layperson :)  Vista is sending a
2048-bit public key and rdesktop assumes 512 bits.

I've committed a couple of Vista fixes to CVS, including one
for this issue... rdesktop now works fine for me with Vista
Beta 2.

You have to clear the 'Allow connections only from computers
running Windows Vista' check box in the Remote Desktop
configuration of your Vista computer. Network Level
Authentication is not available in rdesktop (yet).
