Smartcard not working with 64-bit version

Hello list!

Since I upgraded from Ubuntu Karmic, 32-bit to Ubuntu Lucid, 64-Bit, rdesktop
fails to forward my smartcard.

Sadly, Ubuntu's rdesktop-Package does not have built-in Smartcard-Support [1]
so I created my own package, which is available in my PPAs [2],[3].

This worked fine on 32-bit based Ubuntu Karmic but failed to work on 64-Bit
Lucid. It took some time until I realized that this is caused by switching to
64-Bit rather than a problem with Lucid. I did some testing and this are the
results:

Ubuntu Karmic 32-Bit WORKS
Ubuntu Karmic 64-Bit DOES NOT WORK
Ubuntu Lucid 32-Bit WORKS
Ubuntu Lucid 64-Bit DOES NOT WORK
Gentoo Linux 32-Bit WORKS

For me the results are clear, there is a problem with 64-Bit.

My solution to the problem is now the following:

1.) Install 32-bit rdesktop-Package from [3] on 64-Bit Lucid (--force-all)
2.) Install 32-bit Version of libpcsclite1 via getlibs [4]

==> Now Smarcard is working again! So this is either a problem with 64-bit
rdesktop or 64-bit pcsc-lite

I give some details about my setup:

* I am connecting to a 32-Bit Windows Server 2008 (Enterprise Edition)
* Smartcard is a "G&D StarSign USB Token für ELSTER” [5] (For German tax
declarations), lsusb says "OmniKey AG CardMan Smart@Link"

Does anybody know why Smarcard-support is not working on 64-bit systems?

Fabian
